Will CMT's New Original Programming Strategy Succeed?
Here's
one of the latest insights from CableU.tv: Comment on this post!
In our latest analysis of CMT CABLEU.tv's analyst states, "The Network could use some series with a longer shelf life. Competition/elimination based formats are fun to watch, but don't have the strength to repeat down the road, something that's increasingly becoming a necessity on this network." In April, CMT will air the premiere of two new primetime adventure series as a part of a Friday night programming block called CMT Adventure Country. Each series in this block -- GATOR 911 (12 Forward Entertainment) and DANGER COAST (ITV Studios) -- received a half-hour, 10 episode commitment. Could these grow into the longer-running, brand name series the network needs as it continues to move away from music-centric programs? Stay tuned to our monthly analysis of the network, as we continue to analyze program performance and comment on programming strategy.
